Greetings!
FBC Keller is excited to offer a new resource which we believe will better assist us in facilitating ministry and communication, both church-wide and within ministry areas. This resource is called The City. The City is an entirely private and secure website that is built upon the ministry groups of FBC Keller. In The City you will be able to coordinate Events and Needs, create online discussion Topics, and share Prayer requests and Photos in a single, safe, and secure environment in the context of the groups to which you belong.
The City is safe. Since everything within The City, from promotions to people, is FBC Keller, we can feel safe and undistracted while logged in to the site. There are no outside advertisements or entities cluttering the website or distracting you from the potential for ministry and spiritual growth.
The City is secure. Owned by Zondervan, The City has been through extreme testing in attempts to provide us (and other churches) with the peace of mind that our information is protected and secure. To date, with over 1,000 churches who have their own private sites, The City has never been "hacked" into. Also, The City is secure because only those people who have a connection with FBC Keller are allowed in. There is no "signup" page that can be found on the Internet by which someone could "sneak" in. Everyone must be intentionally invited or physically be on our campus to be allowed into The City.
The City is private. Our City itself and all content within is completely contained inside The City "walls" (except in a few cases when we specifically push content outside to the public into the Plaza). Our City can't be "Googled" so that someone might stumble on a Prayer request. The City is a private and protected environment. Beyond that, content posted within each group inside The City is private and inaccessible even from others within The City who are not part of that group. We can feel comfortable sharing information just as we would sitting in a Bible Study classroom.
Since The City is group-centric, you will likely find yourselves in multiple groups, just as you already are here at FBC Keller. One of the great features of The City is the way it interacts with your email. You will receive email notification based on the settings you choose, AND you can have different email settings for each group you are part of. Once you are logged in, we recommend that you set your email settings for the FBC Keller group and any group you are actively involved with to "New Things." We feel this will keep you best informed of the information you need and want to know while keeping undesired "noise" out of your email inbox. In addition, since The City has such specific interaction with email, no two individuals can use the same email account within The City. If you share an email address with your spouse, we encourage one of you to create an additional email account to use with The CIty. There are several reliable, free options available. Should you need/want assistance, contact the church office, and we'll be happy to assist you..
It is the prayer of your staff that God will use this resource to deepen our community of faith as we seek together to Exalt the Savior, Equip the Saints, Encourage the Believers, and Evangelize the Lost.
