Ministry Service Opportunities
Listed below are place of service in which we need volunteers

Weekly Sunday School Teacher - Every-week teachers of preschoolers, from babies through kindergarten, form the bedrock of our Preschool Sunday School ministry. A full description of duties is available at the preschool desk, but generally, this job requires consistency and a love of children. All the skills necessary to do this job can be learned, but the heart of love for young children needs to be present in order to serve in this capacity. Only God knows the rewards in heaven for a preschool Sunday School teacher. New teachers will receive training on basic teaching and class management procedures. In any given year, we can use eighty full time teaching positions for the 9:30 and 11AM hours.

Rotation Teacher – A valuable position in our preschool ministry is the bi-weekly volunteer who serves as teacher on their day of service. This position is used to fill in when there is no weekly teacher for a group. Children do best when they see the same adult weekly upon arrival in their room. For this reason, we will have as our goal to recruit weekly teachers. However, we welcome Rotation Teachers as an important segment of our faculty.

Youth Assistant – Youth from 13 to 17 are allowed to assist once each month. We restrict their service in order to encourage youth to attend their own Sunday School classes and Worship services at least three times each month. Youth may not serve in our Babies classrooms but are invaluable helpers with toddlers through kindergarteners. Starting Fall of 08, youth assistants will go through a scheduled training to prepare them to do their best as teaching assistants in early childhood classrooms. Target number of youth assistants: 20: Ten at each worship hour.

“Prepper” – This new position is for volunteers who can provide some time each week preparing a specific craft or art activity (based on the day’s lesson) for two preschool classes. This is designed for those individuals who cannot serve as teachers on Sunday but still want to help, and who have the time to do so during the week. A “Prep Director” has graciously volunteered to lead this effort, and will provide guidance to Preppers in their weekly assignments. Target number of volunteers needed: 7. There are two openings available.

“Greeter” – Another new position for volunteers, a Greeter will serve from 9 to 9:30 each Sunday, but then be able to go on to Sunday School or Worship. These volunteers will assist during the hectic drop-off period when teachers need extra eyes and hands. Since Teachers have very little time to prepare their rooms, this volunteer group will allow Teachers the ability to gather materials and speak to parents in those crucial minutes leading up to the 9:30 Sunday School hour. The position is designed for individuals who cannot serve as teachers or rotation teachers, but who have a heart for the Preschool area. Target number of volunteers needed: 12.
Positions still available: 7.
