OrphanCare Ministry

Encourage, accommodate, and resource the faithful obedience of God’s Word to care for orphans within our local faith family and in our community at large

Biblical Mandate — The outworking of one’s true faith in Christ is described in the Bible as fruit. Jesus stated in Matthew 7:16, “you will recognize them by their fruits.” The Bible goes on to give us an understanding of what that fruit really looks like, “Love, Joy, Peace, Patience….” In James 1:27, God gives us another picture of the fruit that comes from true faith when He says, “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.”

First Baptist Church Keller is a local faith family that is committed to the Word of God. We want to be obedient to every command of the Scripture as faithful followers of Christ. It is through this firm belief in the authority of the Bible that we are compelled to obedience related to orphan care. We recognize that not every person is called to make a daily commitment to serving orphans in their homes, but know that every person is called to serving orphans. To that end, the Orphan Care Ministry of FBC Keller seeks to assist those within our faith family and our community in orphan care through these three “legs”.

Adoption —We are here to walk through the adoption process with families and whenever a forever family is formed, and the orphan becomes a son or daughter, we offer a lifelong help for these special families.

Foster — Our goal is to encourage, resource, and come alongside those who are interested in fostering as well as support those actively fostering children in their home through information meetings, support groups, networking, and training.

Support — Our goal is to provide prayer, training, knowledge, resources, networking, and other goods - both material and immaterial to families who are in the process of or are currently fostering or adopting. We also provide FAQs and tips on where to get started, as well as practical wisdom from those who have been through it all.

Foster Parents' Night Out

Foster Parents’ Night Out

First Baptist Church Keller Orphan Care Ministry periodically hosts our foster children with engaging activities, lessons, and fun for the evening allowing their foster parents a night off. This is a free event and is open to infants through 4th-grade children. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Foster Parents’ Night Out at First Baptist Church Keller is a faith-based program that provides respite care to foster families. Our church hosts Foster Parents’ Night Out (FPNO) so you can have a night off, while trained volunteers care for your foster, adopted, and biological children.

For Foster Parents

We periodically provide this opportunity for a scheduled break so you can enjoy time to yourselves while we care for your children. Being a foster parent is a rewarding yet difficult responsibility that requires physical and emotional stamina. FPNO is here so you can enjoy a much-deserved night out while trained volunteers provide your children with fun activities in a safe environment.

For Children

We provide children the opportunity to build healthy relationships with others in their community who care for them in a safe, nurturing environment. Our church volunteers teach children to bond over shared experiences at FPNO, strengthening the Christian communities in which we serve. We want your children to know we value spending time with them. For more information about this ministry, please contact Tony Richmond at trichmond@fbckeller.org or (817) 431-2545.
